This board lets you develop high speed microcontroller circuits using the LPC2103/2/1 32-bit ARM7TDMI-S microcontrollers from Philips. These chips can operate at up to 70MHz! The chip only comes in LQFP-48 package, which isn't very easy to use, but this board helps solve that. Power and I/O pins are routed to two rows of header pins that can be used for prototyping your microcontroller circuits (acts like a wide DIP44 package).

Along the left hand side, the board has connectors for serial communication and external power. The serial port allows you to FLASH program the microcontroller chip firmware using Philip's Flash ISP Utility running on your PC. No additional hardware is required for programming the FLASH memory.

Two onboard linear regulators provide the necessary voltages for the microcontroller chip. The fixed 3.3V LDO can accept 4V-12V input power and provides up to 300mA of current. The adjustable LDO further regulates the 3.3V power down to 1.95V for the core processor power (see LPC2103 errata sheet).

The board can accept a 32.768KHz small cylinder crystal for driving the real time clock. The core processor frequency can be driven by a 10MHz ceramic oscillator (internal programmable PLL brings this up to the maximum 70MHz processor speed).
