To get started, you will need the following third party tools:
dl/ez
EZ-USB FX firmware downloader for Linux and an example test program to
download to the chip. Also try
this link. This site
seems to be going away, so here are my local mirrors: [dl-2.tar.gz] [ez-6.tar.gz]
SDCC
A free C compiler for writing your microcontroller firmware with. Mainly
used on Linux, but can be hacked into running under Windows with
cygwin32 (don't ask me how to do this -- I use Linux).
Warning: Use v2.3.0 or later. Otherwise you'll have to face some
pretty nasty bugs.
Here's firmware currently available:
EZ Console Updated Nov. 14th, 2001
Lets you blink some LEDs if you connect them to port A and lets you read the
status of the remaining ports from a console application running on your Linux
computer. This simple example is intended to help you get started with EZ USB
development on Linux.
Now compiles properly under SDCC v2.3.0.
