Volkswagen CD Changer Cable

This is the cable to use for the 12 pin rectangular CD Changer connector in the trunk or arm rest console of your car.

The cable was made by using five yellow Volkswagen wire/terminals (VW Part# 000-979-132 or the gold plated 000-979-132-A) and the Volkswagen plastic housing (VW Part# 6Q0-972-736). You can buy these parts through any Volkswagen dealership.

Each VW wire was cut in half. The terminal side was inserted into the appropriate hole of the black plastic housing. The other end of each wire was then soldered to a standard DB9M solder cup connector.

While not pictured here, it would probably be a good idea to put an in-line fuse for the 12VDC positive B+ power wire if you're going to play with the optional power control board.

Unfortunately, the Volkswagen wire/terminals cost a lot. Depending upon what your VW dealership wants to charge, it might be possible to get the CD Changer cable cheaper by buying some aftermarket CD Changer adapter cable to hack apart. Talk to your local car audio shop and see if they have anything. $10 is about the best price I've seen.
